DHCPD will not function on >10 interfaces in OpenBSD

When attaching dhcpd to vlan interfaces in OpenBSD, I discovered that I could not run dhcpd on more than 10 interfaces. This is because the default OpenBSD installation only sets 10 bpf devices (0-9). You need to make more.

#cd /dev
#./MAKEDEV bpf[n] (n=an empty device node number)

To automate the process of making 20 more bpf's use this script:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
start=10
end=29

cd /dev
current=$start
while [ $current -le $end ]
do
./MAKEDEV bpf${current}
current=`expr $current + 1`
done
