First of all, make sure you have cvsup'd. If you haven't there is no way you will be able to match up the right versions of the three files.

edit /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/MYKERNEL
Add these lines:
options COMPAT_LINUX
options EXT2FS # Linux
options LINPROCFS # Linux proc filesys support

# cd /usr/src
# make buildkernel KERNCONF=MYKERNEL
# make installkernel KERNCONF=MYKERNEL
# reboot

Mount the linprocfs:
# mount -t linprocfs linprocfs /compat/linux/proc

Add linprocfs to /etc/fstab
linprocfs /compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0

# kldload linprocfs (bsd 4.x)
# mount /compat/linux/proc

# cd /usr/ports/java/linux-sun-jdk14
# make install && make clean

# cd /usr/ports/java/jdk14
# make install && make clean

# reboot

To see if it worked, restart Mozilla and go to Help -> About Plug-ins. You should get about a page's worth of Java plugins. A short trip to javaboutique.internet.com should convince you that Java is indeed functional.
